El verano ha llegado a Bruselas/ Summer arrived finaly in Brussels

ENGLISH TRANSLATION AFTER PARAGRAPHS IN SPANISH
Sorprendente pero cierto, ya es verano en Bruselas y ya han pasado cuatro meses desde que llegué aquí. ¡Qué fuerte! El tiempo vuela, se ve que lo paso bien y tengo muchas cosas que hacer.

Surprisingly, but true, it´s already summer in Brussels and its already four months that I´m here. WOW!! Time passes by so quickly... it seems I´m having a good time and I keep busy.

En la Comisión Europea estoy aprendiendo mucho. En la unidad de la la DG Agri he encontrado un equipo de personas muy competiente, interesante y de una gran calidad humana. El trabajo en equipo se hace realmente fácil y agradable. Y, como no, he hecho muchos amigos entre los otros becarios. Mis niñas: Fulya, Kaja y Lucia, y mis niños: Tomasz, Alfredo, Sebas, Moritz, Raitis, Antoine. Y, bueno, muchísimos otros, como diría mi amigo Jerónimo (allá en Australia), tan queridos. La multinacionalidad tiende a ser adictiva quizá por ser una forma muy fácil y amena de aprender.

At the European Comission I´m learning a lot. At the unit I´ve found very competent, interesting and friendly people. Very nice and easy-to-do team work. Aand, as it could only be, I´ve done loads of friends among the other Stagiaires. My girls: Fulya, Kaja and Lucia, and my boys: Tomaz, Alfredo, Sebas, Moritz, Raitis, Antoine. And, well, many others so beloved (as my friend Jerónimo would say, there in Australia). All this multinationality tends to be very adictive, maybe because it´s an easy and amusing way of learning.

Todo este tiempo he estado impartiendo clases de español, en plan voluntario, a mis compañeros de prácticas. Es una cosa muy normal entre los becarios de las instituciones europeas. De hecho, estoy recibiendo clases de griego a la vez. ¡El griego mola un montón a pesar de ser un poco complicadillo!

All this time I´ve been given voluntarily Spanish lessons to my college Stagiaires. It´s a rather normal phenomenon among the Stagiaires of the European institutions. Indeed, I´m learning Greek. Greek is really cool, although it is a little bit difficult!!

Bruselas/Brussels

ENGLISH VERSION AFTER THE PARAGRAPHS IN SPANISH

Estos dos últimos meses han sido frenéticos. En febrero terminé la tesis y el tres de marzo ya estaba aquí en Bruselas. Hasta el 31 de Julio estaré haciendo unas prácticas en la Comisión Europea, en la Dirección General de Agricultura. Estoy aprendiendo muchísimo. Aquí se tratan muchísimos temas y es muy interesante la amplitud de miras de esta gente. Definitivamente, una gran oportunidad el haber venido aquí.

These last two months have been feverish. At the end of February I ended the Thesis and the third of March I was already in Brussels. Until the 31st of July I´ll be working as a trainee at the European Commission, at DG Agriculture. I´m learning a lot. Here they deal with endless issues and it is very interesting how open-minded are these people. Definitely, this is a great opportunity for everybody.

A parte del trabajo, estoy descubriendo Bruselas, una ciudad con mucha personalidad. Tiene mucha vidilla y uno nunca se aburre, ni siquiera con el tiempo, porque en un sólo día puede desde nevar hasta hacer un sol de justicia. Aquí tenéis unas fotos de una nevada buena que nos cayó hace un mes.

Besides work, I´m discovering Brussels, a city with a lot of personality. It´s very lively and one can never get bored, not even with the weather, as one has the four seasons in one day. Here I´ve attached some pics about a snowfall we had one month ago.

Los compañeros que estoy conociendo son gente encantadora. Gente muy competente y con muchas ganas de aprender y disfrutar esta oportunidad, al igual que yo. El tiempo se está pasando muy deprisa aquí con ellos. Además, todos estamos metidos en mil actividades y comités de organización de actividades de todo tipo.

My workmates are really nice people. They are highly competent and with a never-ending wiling to learn and enjoy from this opportunity, the way I do. Time has really flown by very quickly with them. Apart from working together, we are all involved in the organisation of thousands of activities and committees.

El día 5 de Mayo, día de la Liberación en los Países Bajos, me iré para Wageningen otra vez a pasar el día. Y de allí a ver a Jan a Bonn (Alemania) y a descubrir a un nuevo primo que vive allí. El día 9 iré a Riga (Letonia) a pasar cuatro días con mis amigos Curro ibáñez y Giulia Mulé. Lo vamos a pasar bien.!!!

The 5th of May, Liberation day in the Netherlands, I´m going to spend some time in Wageningen. From there I´ll visit Jan in Bonn (Germany). I´ll discover a new cousin who lives there as well. The 9th of May I´ll go to Riga, in Latvia, to spend four days with my friends Curro Ibañez and Giulia Mulé. We´ll have a great time!!!

Fin de semana en Blokzijl/ Weekend at Blokzijl

ENGLISH VERSION UNDER PARAGRAPHS IN SPANISH

Se me olvidó decir que el fin de semana del 23 de febrero fuimos al pueblo de Jan, Blokzijl, Jan, Wiebke, una amiga alemana del área de Bremen, y yo. Aquellos que digan que no existe una cocina holandesa, están muy equivocados. Nos pasamos el fin de semana comiendo sopas y estofados y compota de manzana y... mil cosas riquísimas.

I forgot to mention that the weekend of the 23rd of February Jan, Wiebke, a german friend from the area of Bremen, and I went ot Blokzijl, Jan´s town. Those of you who say that the Dutch cousine doesn´t exist are very wrong. We spent the whole weekend eating soups and stews and appel mouse and... thousands of very tasty foodstuffs.

Conocimos a toda la familia de Jan, que son igual de encoantadores que él. Jan nos había organizado un montón de actividades para que no nos aburriéramos, así quen os pasamos el sábado visitando una planta de Biogas en una granja de porcino, una grnaja de producción orgánica de todo (cerdos, vacas, gallinas, verduras...) y una granja de vacuno de leche orgánica con su propia línea de procesado de leche. ¡¡Superinteresante!!

We got to know Jan´s famaily, who are as charming and friendly as he is. Jan had organised loads of activities to keep us busy, so we spend the Saturday visiting a Biogas palnt at the swein farm, an organic farm with all kind of productions (pigs, cows, chickens, veggies...) and a big organic dairy farm that processes its own milk. Very interesting!!!

Y tuvimos una gran inmersión cultural, porque incluso presenciamos un concierto al máspuro estilo de la Holanda profunda: cerveza y decibelios. Eramos un poco la sensación, Wiebke y yo, alemana y española, ¡¡¡exóticas!!! Fue encantador como la gente se esforzó en hablar en inglés con nosotras.

We even had a cultural immersion, becasue I went to a purest Dutch style concert: beer and decibels. Wiebke and I were somehow the attraction, a german and a spaniard, really exotic!!! It was very nice to see how the people made an effort to talk in English with us.

Para aquellos que quieran descubrir otra parte de Holanda, les recomiendo este área. Tiene un parque natural y muchos canales por los que navegar.

For those of you who are willing ot discober a different part of Holland, I recommend this area. It has a natural park and loads of chanels in which one can sail.
