Fin de semana en Blokzijl/ Weekend at Blokzijl

ENGLISH VERSION UNDER PARAGRAPHS IN SPANISH

Se me olvidó decir que el fin de semana del 23 de febrero fuimos al pueblo de Jan, Blokzijl, Jan, Wiebke, una amiga alemana del área de Bremen, y yo. Aquellos que digan que no existe una cocina holandesa, están muy equivocados. Nos pasamos el fin de semana comiendo sopas y estofados y compota de manzana y... mil cosas riquísimas.

I forgot to mention that the weekend of the 23rd of February Jan, Wiebke, a german friend from the area of Bremen, and I went ot Blokzijl, Jan´s town. Those of you who say that the Dutch cousine doesn´t exist are very wrong. We spent the whole weekend eating soups and stews and appel mouse and... thousands of very tasty foodstuffs.

Conocimos a toda la familia de Jan, que son igual de encoantadores que él. Jan nos había organizado un montón de actividades para que no nos aburriéramos, así quen os pasamos el sábado visitando una planta de Biogas en una granja de porcino, una grnaja de producción orgánica de todo (cerdos, vacas, gallinas, verduras...) y una granja de vacuno de leche orgánica con su propia línea de procesado de leche. ¡¡Superinteresante!!

We got to know Jan´s famaily, who are as charming and friendly as he is. Jan had organised loads of activities to keep us busy, so we spend the Saturday visiting a Biogas palnt at the swein farm, an organic farm with all kind of productions (pigs, cows, chickens, veggies...) and a big organic dairy farm that processes its own milk. Very interesting!!!

Y tuvimos una gran inmersión cultural, porque incluso presenciamos un concierto al máspuro estilo de la Holanda profunda: cerveza y decibelios. Eramos un poco la sensación, Wiebke y yo, alemana y española, ¡¡¡exóticas!!! Fue encantador como la gente se esforzó en hablar en inglés con nosotras.

We even had a cultural immersion, becasue I went to a purest Dutch style concert: beer and decibels. Wiebke and I were somehow the attraction, a german and a spaniard, really exotic!!! It was very nice to see how the people made an effort to talk in English with us.

Para aquellos que quieran descubrir otra parte de Holanda, les recomiendo este área. Tiene un parque natural y muchos canales por los que navegar.

For those of you who are willing ot discober a different part of Holland, I recommend this area. It has a natural park and loads of chanels in which one can sail.

Actualización de Febrero/February´s Update

ENGLISH VERSION UNDER PARAGRAPHS IN SPANISH

¡¡¡Vaya mesecito!!! Primero la llegada Wageningen donde volví a encontrarme con esa gente maravillosa que habita allí. Luego escribir un artículo con los resultados de la tesis. Quién iba a decir que la estancia en Sudáfrica iba a ser tan productiva, jaja. Me lo dicen cuando estaba allí y ni lo hubiera creído. Osea que al final resultó estupendo. Después del artículo, escribir la tesis final de master y... a Bruselas. Porque para aquellos que no me sigan la pista, voy a pasar los próximos cinco meses, hasta finales de Julio, en el Directorado General de Agricultura en la Comisión Europea. Estoy más emocionada... Empiezo mañana, lunes 3 de Marzo.

What a month!! First the arrival in Wageningen, where I had the chance to meet again with all these marvellous people the still live there. Then write an article with all the results of the Thesis. Who was going to forecast that the stay in South Africa was going ot be so productive, haha. If someone´s ever told me that there, I´d never believe it. After the article I had to write the final report of the thesis and... to Brussels. For those of you who find it difficult to keep my track, I´m going to spend the coming months, till the end of July, at the Directorate General of Agriculture at the European Commission. I´m so excited... I start tomorrow, 3rd of March.

La fiesta de despedida de Wageningen fue genial. Vinieron muchos de los amigos que he hecho allí y bueno, otros faltaron, pero pude verlos antes de irme. Incluso vino Thijs, un amigo holandés que estaba en EEUU haciendo su tesis. No es que viniera para la ocasión, ya estaba en Holanda ;oP. Pero de todas formas, ¡¡qué ilusión!!

The farewell party of Wageningen was great. Some of the friends I did there came and those who ´couldn´t come, I had the chance to meet them before leaving. Even Thijs, a Dutch friend who was in the USA doing his Thesis, was there. I mean, he didn´t come specially for the party, he just came back to the Netherlands ;oP. But anyway, It was so special!!

Vuelta al hogar/Back at home

ENGLISH VERSION BELOW
Ya llevo dos semanas en Europa, la primera en España y la segunda en Holanda. La vida aquí parece moverse más deprisa. Sólo en estas dos semanas, han venido los Reyes alternativos, hemos tomado las uvas, también alternativas, he estado con mi familia y amigos(aunque no tanto como me hubiera gustado), volví para Holanda y empezé a trabajar en la tesis. Tengo noticias frescas:
1. Estoy escribiendo un artículo para un conferencia mundial de Economía Agraria, que se celebrará en Gante (Bélgica) en Agosto (www.eaae.org).
2. Me han aceptado en un internado en la Comisión Europea de Agricultura que empezaré el 1 de Marzo y terminaré, si nada cambia, el 31 de Julio.
3. Soy feliz como una perdiz al reencontrarme con esta gente maravillosa de Wageningen aunque algunos nos dejan, como Jerónimo, pero para irse a las antípodas a seguir su carrera.
4. Echo de menos Sudáfrica y al a gente que he dejado allí (vaya noticia!!) Pero como se dice, esto no ha sido un final,sino un comienzo.
Y eso es todo amigos!!!

I´ve been already two weeks in Europe, the first one in Spain and the second one in The Netherlands. Life in Europe seems to move on quicker. Only in these two weeks the Alternative Three Wise Men (should have come the 6th of January) arrived full of presents, we ate the grapes (alternatives as well, cause they should have been in Silvester), I´ve been with my familly and friends (less time as what I´d have liked), I´ve flown back to the Netherlands and I started working on the Thesis. and I have fresh baked news:
1. I started writing an article that, I´ve everything works as I expect, I will presnt in a Agricultural Economy Conference in Gant (Belgium) next Agust.
2. I´ve been accepted in an Internship at the European Commission of Agriculture, that will last from 1st of MArch till 31st of July.
3. I´ve met again the marvellous people of Wageningen and I´m very happy, despite some of them leave to the other side of the world to continue their carriar, like Jeronimo.
4. I miss South Africa and the people I met there (what a new!!!) But this was not an End, but a Beginning.
