La boda/ The Wedding

En Agosto tuvimos uno de los acontecimientos más felices que han sucedido en mi familia, supongo que igualable a la alegría de mis padres cuando empezamos a hablar (o quizá no, porque desde entonces no hemos parado, para desgracia de mi padre ;o)). Mi hermana se casó. Ni que decir tiene que la novia fue una de las novias más guapas que se han visto en la Tierra y parte del universo. El novio estaba también radiante. La sonrisa esa tonta, como la que se tiene cuando uno es feliz, no les abandonó en todo el día.

In August we had one of the happiest events of my family, maybe comparable to the joy our parents felt when we said the first word (or maybe not, because from then on we never stop talking). My sister got married!!! There´s no need to say that the bride was one of the cutest brides in Earth and part of the Universe.. The groom was radiant as well. This stupid smile, like the one everyone has when one is happy, didn´t leave them during the whole day.

La boda parecía esa de la película “Mi gran boda griega”. Nos juntamos más de doscientos invitados, comiendo, bebiendo, bailando, charlando… disfrutando. Por la noche nos juntamos todos (o casi todos) en casa y allí se alargó la celebración hasta las 4 o las 5 de la mañana.

The wedding was like that of the movie "My big fat greek wedding". We were more than two hundred guests, eating, drinking, dancing, chatting... enjoying. In the evening we went all (or almost all) to our house and there the celebration lasted till noon.

Como mucha gente era de fuera, al día siguiente todavía muchos nos hicieron compañía para comer en lo que pasó a ser la REboda: paella a raudales (por cierto, todavía tenemos en casa congelada) y costrada (una tarta típica de Soria, de donde viene la mitad de mi familia, hecha a base de hojaldre, nata y azúcar, y que está de requetechupete. Se la recomiendo a todo el mundo que vaya a descubrir esta ciudad a
orillas del río Duero).

Many of the guests came from other parts of Spain, so the following day many of them stayed for lunch, in what was transformed into a REwedding: huge paella (by the way, we still have frozen portions) and "Costrada" (a typical cake from Soria, where the half of the family come from, made with a very thin pastry in layers, cream and sugar, and which is extremelly tasty. I recommend it to everybody who is going to discover this city next to the river Duero).
