La vida me trata bien por ahora. La primavera me encontró en Bruselas y la ciudad, a parte de los habituales días de lluvia, nos sorprendió con fantásticos días de sol. En estos países del norte de Europa donde no se ve mucho el sol, su llegada vuelve a la gente loca. Es una evolución muy interesante de ver. Eso de “la primavera la sangre altera” alcanza por estas zonas su máxima expresión.

Life treats me kindly so far. Spring found me in Brussels and the city, apart from the usual rainy days, surprised us with fantastic sunny days. In these northern Europe where one cannot see the sun so often, its arrival drives the people totally crazy. It´s a rather interesting evolution!! In Spain we have a say: with the Spring, blood burns, which in these northern areas get undescriptivable levels.


Han sido meses muy intensos con un montón de actividades. Fuimos al Werchter, que es un festival de música rock alternativo (www.rockwerchter.be), o algo así, que se celebra a primeros de Julio en el pueblito belga con el mismo nombre. Está muy bien, un poco caro, pero merece la pena. Allí nos desplazamos una gran delegación de becarios de la Comisión. Echamos unas risas.

These past months have been rather intensive, with a lot of activities. We went to the Werchter rock festival (www.rockwerchter.be), that takes place at the beginning of July in the little belgian village of Werchter. It´s a very nice festival, a little bit expensive, but really worth it. There we went a large delegation of Stagiaires of the Commission. It was quite nice!!!
También celebramos una fiesta de gala (EUROBALL) que fue una pasada. Todos de punta en blanco como podéis ver, con una cena de gala, exhibición de tango, premios, conciertos y representación teatral. Y por su puesto baile al final. A todo el mundo le dejó muy buen sabor de boca y un poco de dolor de cabeza.

Con el fin de Julio llegaron las despedidas. Se acabó el Stage (periodo de prácticas) en la Comisión y…cada mochuelo a su olivo. Promesas de reencuentro a lo largo de una vida que seguro será muy interesante para estos chicos, ya que la mayoría eran unos fueras de serie. Jóvenes formados, hablando mil idiomas y unas ganas locas de comerse el mundo. Cuando se comparte la vida con gente de tantas partes una no deja de aprender sobre lo diferente que entienden la vida en las distintas partes del mundo, las diferentes expectativas y lo fácilmente que se crean los problemas debido a la falta de comunicación o la mala comunicación. Después de estos meses, las personas que pensaron que se podría crear una Europa Común y lo consiguieron me merecen el mayor de los respetos. Incluso a nivel local en cada país pasa lo mismo con las diferentes comunidades. A mí personalmente, me gusta sentirme parte de una comunidad que está regida por el respeto entre sus componentes. Todos somos muy diferentes pero hay muchas cosas que nos unen y hablando se entiende la gente. Quizá sea este mensaje el que más se ha grabado en mi cabeza durante estos meses.

With the end of July came the end of the Internship at the Commission and the farewels. Promeses of meeting again sometime during the lifes of these young people whose life will most likely be very interesting, because the majorty of them where really awesome, both personally and profesionally. Highly educated young women and men, speaking innumerable languages and very ambitious. When one shares life with people from other countries, one never stops learning how different ways of understanding life there are, how different the expectations areand how easily problems rise due to misscommunication. After these months, those persons who beleived in the common Europe and manage to build it deserve my whole respect. Even those who beleive that at national level and try to come together the different regions. We are all very different, but despite of that, there are many things that unify us and understanding comes through dialogue. Maybe this is the message that will remain recorded in my brain from these months.
